I know who you are
Coming around the corner
I see your grille, your halogen lamps
You think you are a man
But to me, all you are is another set of wheels
I see where you are
Coming down the road
I see your trim, your custom rims
You think you have a face
But to me, all you are is another make and model
I caught how you are
Rolling off the lot
I see your colors, your leather roof
You think you’ve got it made
But to me, all you are is another hood ornament
I feel where you are
Sitting behind that wheel
You see my body style, my lines
I think you know it’s me
But to you, all I am is another cylinder count
We are our shiny metal boxes
Mankind as a set of options
Driving ourselves over the fields
Invisible behind our windshields
Running on concrete and asphalt

I learned from a child that when we see a car on the road, its combination of make, model, color and style are synthesized in our mind as the person driving it and not an automobile at all.
