Remember swinging down from that tree?
So small, we brachiated from fruit highs
Clinging, we knew we were predator free
We went bipedal and used our thighs
Then how we walked out of that cave?
From the comfort of walls, ceiling, floor
Where our stone tools were safe
We hind limbed it to the shore
And how we ran from that tent?
Lit fires on our ancestral plain
Met up with others as we went
We rode quadrupeds up the mountain
Remember how we planted the land?
Captured the rain from up above
Believed it was from God’s hand
And how we first talked about love
Then how we raised our livestock?
And learned the shepherding skill
We converted dirt into our own rock
Continued bending nature to our will
And how we carried our leaders?
Chiefs and kings who became
Human Gods and gifted seers
With pyramids, tombs and epic fame
Look behind, below and above
We’ve got spherical vision
Over carbon, oxygen and rock silicate
We move with such precision
Through air and water
We’ve left the atmosphere
Through space and plasma
Now beyond the heliosphere
Remember how we built those aqueducts?
And modified the plant food
With slaves and city-state products
We created ideas about human good
Then how we rolled onto foreign hills?
In carriages full of our possessions
Commerce, trade and paying bills
Became the force for new generations
And how we sailed from our harbor?
Out on the vast ocean edge
We explored new worlds with ardor
And fulfilled our royal pledge
Remember how we conquered steam?
Drove our trains down iron tracks
Connecting continents was our dream
Built up cities by breaking workers’ backs
Then how we designed those engines?
Liquid and solid fuel to combust
Propelled us across the land and water
Prepared winged flight with thrust
And how we flew at cruising altitude?
In jets that expand our vision
Launching rockets in greater magnitude
We leave the earth for the last excursion
Look straight ahead, left and right
We’ve got terrestrial vision
Over carbon, oxygen and rock silicate
We move with such precision
Through air and water
We’ve left the atmosphere
Through space and plasma
Now beyond the heliosphere
