Winging It

Why am I doing this?
I really want to know
Came here to lie down
Yet I’m soaring just so

Why did I leave my feet?
It feels all the same
As walking down streets
Or taking the train

Winging it again
I say, I’m winging it again
You know what I mean
Over rooftops and houses
It’s just a fleeting thing

Why can’t I stay up here?
I like the way I glide
Taking off and landing
It warms me up inside

Why do I go through with it?
This disappointing trip
Over and again my friend
It always ends with this

Winging it again
I say, I’m winging it again
You know the feeling well
Can’t get off the ground
It’s the end of a thrill

Why do we have the idea
That we can really fly?
Is there something in our nature
That makes us jump and try?

Why are there such visions?
Conjured up into our brains
And then we always wake up
To sing the sad refrain

Winging it again
I say, we’re winging it again
Not liking what’s here
We want to leave the earth
And escape into the air

Thinking about the recurring dream that we can just leap and fly and surmising the reasons we have them.
